NYC plays a major role in lots of films at the Fest this year. Here are five to check out.

“Last Call”

This is the story of the people of
This is the story of the people of the Terminal bar in midtown Manhattan. In 1972, bartender and photographer Sheldon Nadelman began working the day shift at Terminal — taking photographs as well as pouring drinks. Those 1500 black and white pictures tell the customers story, 25 years after the bar closed. More info and tickets.

“The Wannabe”

What would a New York film festival be
What would a New York film festival be without a picture about the mob? This crime drama, starring Vincent Piazza and Patricia Arquette, are two lovers with “delusions of grandeur” who “embark on a drug-infused crime spree.” Sounds like gritty NYC to us! The film is based on actual events that took place in 1992, and Martin Scorsese is the Executive Producer.More info and tickets.

“Anesthesia”

Sam Waterston and Glenn Close star in Tim


Sam Waterston and Glenn Close star in Tim Blake Nelson’s “Anesthesia.” Waterston plays Walter Zarrow, a Columbia professor who is violently mugged outside his apartment. The film is the story of events leading up to the attack, and the characters that play a part in how it unfolds. Also starring Kristen Stewart and Gretchen Mol.More info and tickets.
