Freedom Tower Observation Deck Tickets Are On Sale Now

The observation deck at One World Trade Center takes up three floors at the top of the tower — 100, 101, and 102 — and has long been expected to become a major tourist attraction. Even though it won’t open until the end of May, tickets are on sale beginning today.

The observatory’s web site saystickets will cost $32 per adult, $26 for children, and $30 for seniors. During the summer, its listed hours are 9 a.m. until midnight, and the rest of the year it is scheduled to be open until 8 p.m., seven days per week year-round.

While those prices may seem steep, the observatory’s officials have indicated that the attraction will aim to provide more of an “experience” than simply a destination. Specifically, as the observatory’s web site described, visitors will be shuttled through a Global Welcome Center and a section called Voices and Foundations that provides information about the building before riding dedicated elevators to the top, where there are restaurants and a souvenir shop in addition to the actual observation deck.

The observatory is operated by Legends Hospitality, a joint venture of the New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys, under a deal that wasreported to last 15 years and be worth as much as $875 million for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
