Less than two years since its debut in Philadelphia, restaurant High Street on Market will be taking on New York.
Chef Eli Kulp and Ellen Yin will be opening a second High Street location in the West Village neighborhood of New York City at 637 Hudson St. It’s expected to open in fall this year.
“When the opportunity arose, Ellen and I felt that High Street would be a great addition to New York and we hope to bring a distinct point of view to an already dynamic food city,” Kulp said.
Kulp is no stranger to the New York clientele. Prior to his time as executive chef — and now co-owner— of Fork and High Street on Market, he worked as chef de cuisine at Torrisi Italian Specialties in Manhattan, and also worked at Casa Lever, La Fonda del Sol and Del Posto.“The chance to return to my culinary roots and to a city which gave me so many great experiences, is just thrilling and inspiring,” Kulp said.
Yin and Kulp will continue to work with their culinary team: Baker Alex Bois, Pastry Chef Samantha Kincaid, and a.kitchen and a.bar Chef de Cuisine Jon Nodler.
High Street on Market was namedsecond-best new restaurant in the country by Bon Appétit magazine.
Yin and Kulp co-own High Street Hospitality Group, which operates Fork, High Street, and a.kitchen and a.bar at AKA Rittenhouse Square.
